Happy Baby

What’s better than a happy baby?! (Well, maybe a sleeping baby!) Happy Baby is a great way to release tension in your back, open your hips, and stretch your hamstrings. It’s a great counter-pose to bridge and wheel. Here are our top tips:

  • Keep your entire back on the mat, from your shoulders to your tailbone

  • Make space by bringing your knees to the outside of your rib cage

  • Use a strap if you can’t reach the outside edges of your feet, or you can place your hands behind your thighs while keeping your feet lifted. If you can reach your feet, you can also try bringing your elbows behind your knees and then reach for the outside edges of your feet - pictured below)

  • For EXTRA happy baby, turn the corners of your mouth toward your ears!

Remember that you are working the soles of your feet toward the ceiling with your ankles over your knees, but its OK if you aren’t there yet!
