Dolphin Pose
The porpoise, I mean purpose, of dolphin pose is to help build shoulder strength. Think down dog, but on your forearms. This is another unassuming inversion! Here are our top tips:
1. Keep your head lifted off of the mat by pressing through your shoulders. While you can eventually make your way into a headstand from dolphin (emphasis on eventually), you don't want to put any pressure on your head or neck in dolphin pose.
2. Bend your knees as much as you need to in order to keep your back flat. This is particularly helpful if you have tight hamstrings.
3. If your shoulders are really tight and this pose is painful, lower your knees to the mat and take puppy pose. You'll still get a great stretch through your shoulders!
